Why has my release date changed?

Why can't I pick the date I originally chose?

It takes up to 14 days to get your release live synchronously on all streaming platforms. That's why when you submit or re-submit a release, you have to pick a release date at least 14 days in the future.

If you ask for your release to be drafted so that you can edit it, or there is change that you need to make before the streaming platforms will accept your release, you may no longer be able to choose the date you picked originally. The streaming platforms have a lot of rules for metadata, contributors, artwork and much more. If your release doesn't follow these rules, one or more streaming platforms will reject your release.

If in doubt, or if you're new to distributing music, we highly recommend you don't pick the earliest possible release date. This means if there's a problem, you can fix it and still have a 14 day buffer.

My release is back in draft and I have to pick a new date

If you've submitted this release before and it's now back in draft and you're being prompted to choose a new release date, the first thing you should do is check your emails. If your release has been drafted, it will be be because you need to make changes to it before streaming platforms will accept it. We'll send the details of these changes to your email address.

How can I find out if changes are required on my release?

  1. Check your emails (and Spam/Junk folders) for the next 4-5 days after your submission. We will always send required changes here.

  2. If you find one of our emails in Spam/Junk, make sure to mark it as not spam/junk and whitelist our email or domain in your email client settings. This will make sure you get our emails next time!

  3. Allow push notifications on our mobile app and you'll be alerted if the status of your release changes to draft.

Releasing a track in under 14 days

We do have an optional extra in the app for fast-track (expedited) releases if you urgently need a release out as soon as possible. You can buy these on a per release basis.

These release do not let you pick an exact date for the release to go live, they instead send an instruction to go live on each site as soon as possible.

We aim to do our own checks on these releases within 1 working day. If they pass the checks, they will go out on each platform individually as fast as the streaming sites can ingest them. This means for example your release may go live on Spotify the next day, but not on Apple for 3-4 days afterwards, as they take longer to process it.
